Will the school district test my child for gifted eligibility By law, school districts are required to identify and test children suspected of being. If a psychologist is efficient and cost-effective with test administration, these tests can be administered in less than one hour. This process is optional but helps very shy children feel more comfortable when they do the real testing. Testing an older child takes about 10-15 minutes longer. You bring your child in on a day before testing and he or she meets with a psychologist, develops a rapport, and engages in some activities that will simulate what the gifted testing is like. If your child is very shy or slow to warm up to new people, we offer a 15 minute ‘meet and greet’ appointment. If you proceed, $50 of your screening fee goes toward the full IQ testing. If you decide to proceed with the full evaluation, it will require another appointment to administer the full IQ test. The gifted screening is optional, and results are given on the day of testing. This process is administered by an associate and will let us know if your child’s IQ is close enough to warrant the full gifted testing. We offer an optional 20 minute gifted screening using a brief IQ test.
